‘Christmas Rose’ is one of four constructed hand – knitted textiles inspired again by the poem ‘Quite Contrary’ by Mary Davenport. By changing the colour of the rose and the words of the last two lines, I then created a poem with a new title and meaning.

‘Rose of Candlelight’

He brought her roses red,

He brought roses her white,

But a Christmas Rose she said,

Would glow in candlelight.
